The Patio Pancake Place originally opened as a drive-in restaurant on June 24, 1964. It was very high tech for those days. There were speakers in the parking lot which customers could place their order and then wait for their order to be delivered.
All without leaving your car !
Twelve years after that grand opening, Bob and Jean Edwards purchased "The Patio".
For the past 43 years and with the help of their children and now grandchildren, they are the oldest continually owned and operated restaurant in Chaffee County.
The Edwards Family has continued to hold on to the original concept that was established in 1964. In those early days, "The Patio" was first and foremost a breakfast and lunch restaurant, specializing in pancakes. The homemade pancake batter recipe, made fresh each day, is still the same as in 1964. The varied soups and the many desserts are also made daily. Our green chili recipe has not altered a teaspoon worth since the days that Bob and Jean's son, Tim, first worked his recipe to near perfection.
Specializing in homemade food served in large portions, always at a reasonable price and a friendly, helpful staff; "The Patio" has established itself as a local favorite.
